Habits That You Do Not Know Are Damaging Your Kidneys

The importance of kidneys is very well known to us. It is a very vital organ of our body. They help in filtering what is not required out of body and help in keeping all the important nutrients stored in our body. The filtering mechanism that they follow is phenomenal. It also helps in removing the excess water from our body. A lot of hormones are produced by kidneys which help in maintaining the balance of the nutrients in our body. It also helps in the regulation of some of the important functions of the body like that of blood pressure and making the red blood cells in the body.  So, it is our duty to keep them healthy so that we do not have to compromise with our health. So, it is also very important to understand some of your habits that unintentionally might be harming your kidneys.

  1. Holding the Urine

This is something we all have done at some point in our life. It could have been done intentionally by ignoring the pressure or unintentionally by the lack of the service. This can lead to kidney failure as it increases pressure on your kidneys. It is better to avoid such situation.

  1. Healthy Diet

As we already mentioned above that kidneys helps in maintaining the level of the required nutrients in our body. But, that will not happen if your diet is not proper. You should take care of your diet by having a healthy food which contains all the important minerals and also nutrients. It has also been seen in a research that lack of a certain set of nutrients like that of magnesium and Vitamin B6 leads to kidney failure or the risk of kidney stones.

  1. Coffee

We all love coffee. But as it is rightly said that excess of anything is bad. If you have more coffee, then it increases pressure on your kidneys which can lead to kidney failure. It does in the same way as salt does. You might not feel this initially, but overtime you will start seeing the change.

  1. Water

This is something that we should not emphasize upon. But, at the same time, it has been seen that a lot of us tend to not take care of the amount of water we have. It is very important to have at least 3 liters of water everyday so that the kidney functions efficiently. It also helps in cleaning the system and removing the toxins from your body which is done by kidneys itself.

  1. Sugar is Harmful

We know that a certain amount of sugar is required by the body. But, according to a research, people who have more than one sugary drink in a day tend to have protein stored in their urine. If protein is found in urine, this means that the kidneys have stopped functioning properly which is an early warning that your kidneys are not proper. It can also lead to kidneys failure at a later stage.
