Seafood is loved by all of us. It depends on us, we can either buy it from the supermarket or buy it fresh. Including seafood in your diet helps you a lot. But a very important question that arises here is that why should diabetics have seafood? Seafood is very important for diabetics as well. It has a lot of benefits. Some of them are :

  • They are low in fats and cholesterol which is good for diabetics.
  • They are also a very good source of protein.
  • They also have a high amount of omega 3 fatty acids.
  • It also controls the blood sugar level as it does not let glucose level to rise.
  • Also, seafood is not at all time consuming. One can enjoy a full meal with their family.

  1. Fish :

Doctors recommend eating fish because it is good for the heart. Not only this, they are also a very good source of protein. Also, diabetics get a lot of minerals and other nutrients by eating fish. If you do not like fish, you can add some herbs to it and make it better in taste. The preparation time is also very short, one can prepare fish in a less time than ever thought.

  1. Salmon :

This is the best one can have. It is the best source of omega 3 fatty acids. Though its name has the word fatty in it, this is considered as the “healthy” fat. This healthy fat is very good skin, heart, and skin. There are a lot of ways with the help of which you can prepare salmon like poaching, baking, and broiling. You can also try grilling salmon, it tastes better. Add some herb to enhance its benefits.

  1. Cod :

It is also a type of white fish. You can cook it under high pressure as well. It is because of the nature of withstanding high pressure. But at the same time, it is very important to take care of its cooking time as well. It takes a good amount of time to absorb flavors in it. If you want, you can skip salt and sugar to avoid high cholesterol.

  1. Shripm :

It does contain a very high amount of cholesterol as compared to other kinds of seafood. If you are someone who suffers from high cholesterol, then you should avoid this. Otherwise, after cooking properly, this can be taken. You can eat it once or twice a week and it won’t hurt your body. If you are having a diet which is low in fat, then you should consider eating shrimp.

  1. Shellfish :

This dish is very easy to prepare. Also, it is very healthy in nature. It might be slightly difficult to get out the meat from this but when it comes to preparing the dish, the whole process is very easy.

  1. Seafood salad :

You can become a bit creative and try out this recipe. Take a fish that is your favorite and make a salad out of it. You can add pepper, lemon juice, and can eat it along with a sandwich.
